Super Supporter Forum Guidelines
The SuperSupporter forum is an independent and privately owned domain to which the right of admission is reserved.
The SuperSupporter board is a gathering place created in an endeavour to give sport lovers a place to debate their favourite sport – divided into the different sporting codes. It is founded upon the principles of Honour, Accord and Respect. Honour is to hold something or someone in high regard, Accord is harmony and mutual agreement, and Respect is to consider or treat with courtesy. SuperSupporter members embrace these tenets both here on the board and in our community and in real life.
The main purpose of this forum is a means of communication between members and is not to be used for other purposes.
This community is drawn together by virtue of a common cause in support of their individual sporting codes. We are also a diverse group with many occupations, backgrounds and belief systems. That said, the Administrators of SuperSupporter wish to promulgate rules designed to protect individual interests, foster community spirit and further the principles, initiatives and goals that we hold dear.
This is OUR community. Most people have a common sense or feel for what is and what is not appropriate in our forums and you generally do a great job of policing yourselves. We do, however, need to have a few set policies for everyone to refer to when the need arises. While the Administrators and Moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the Administrators, Moderators or Webmasters (...except for posts by these people) and hence they will not be held liable.
If the user continues to break policy, the SuperSupporter Administration will review the said user’s account and remove it, if need be. It is at the sole discretion of the SuperSupporter Administration to remove violating accounts.
The IP addresses of all posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the Webmaster, Administrators and Moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic or post at any time should they see fit under the guidelines specified below. You agree that the Webmaster, Administrators and Moderators of this forum have the right to send a private message with a warning and/or censure any forum user who is in violation of forum policy.
Rules and Guidelines for the SuperSupporter Forum
1 - Language.
2 – Easy Mini-Rules
3 - The Small Print.
4 – Code of Conduct.
5 - Warnings from the Moderation Team (Moderators/Super Moderators/Administrators and Owner / Webmaster).
1 – Language
Please make all your posts in English/Afrikaans, it's nice to know what you're saying and this way there is a far smaller chance of you being able to write and get away with anything you're not supposed to.
Please be attentive to the moods, thoughts and vocabulary being currently used by the community at this forum. Be polite, be kind, but more importantly try to be a great listener first. Pay some attention to the post in front of yours and half the challenge of making that especially great presentation is already done.
2 - Easy Mini-Rules.
2.a - In the case of any contention regarding rules and/or anything else having to do with SuperSupporter matters, the Moderator's point of view regarding any contended-upon issue will always hold sway. If a member has a problem with a moderator's judgment regarding anything here, his last and only recourse is to send an email to Barlee (in his profile) where a particular situation can perhaps be reviewed.
2.b - Please stay on topic. Not staying on topic can make a thread confusing and too many jokes can hijack or railroad a thread. Try and be courteous, kind and respectful to the Opening Poster. Know when being off topic has gone too far and also know when and how to bring a thread back on track with some respect and kindness.
2.c - Please, refrain from double posts. Double posts confuse other posters, can ruin the order of meaning, and can result in topics that are inappropriate and not allowed.
2.d - Careful with the Spamming...Careful with the Spamming...Careful with the Spamming...Careful wit... Got it?
3 - The Small Print
The Freedom to, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness or How SuperSupporter shows its respect for you in small-print. These are those legal, boring and ever-ubiquitous small print rules that we know you'll never read but which we'll be ready to throw at you in that fraction of a second you try and break them.
3.1. Intellectual Property - Intellectual property of others is highly regarded due to the effort, creativity and hard work put forth by those individuals. With that in mind not plagiarising others works, respecting copyrights, patents, trade secrets and trademarks are encouraged. All posts made on this forum are property of the posters, subject to the license granted below. All other material and content on the SuperSupporter website and/or forum are the property and copyright of SuperSupporter and all rights are reserved. By posting material on the SuperSupporter site/forum, you grant to SuperSupporter a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, edit, modify, adapt, publish, translate, communicate to the public, perform and display the submitted content (in whole or in part) worldwide for the full term of any rights that may exist in the content. "Specific material already subjected to copyright law, (i.e. Publications, photographs, film and the like) will only be used in its original unedited form, with credit given to the original copyright holder. If such copyrighted material is included in a post, it should be indicated as such and credit should be given to the copyright holder. Failure to specifically indicate such rights will automatically indicate that the material fall under the public domain."
3.2. Compliance with Laws, Rules and Regulations - Not participating in discussions (postings) related to illegal or unlawful activities, including issues determined to be against the principles and objectives of SuperSupporter are encouraged. This obligation is inherent with the principles upon which this community is founded.
Personal Responsibility Towards the SuperSupporter Community - The SuperSupporter community expects that you will exercise caution, good sense and proper judgment when using the services of this forum. You agree NOT to use SuperSupporter for or in connection with any of the following activities:
3.2.1 - Impersonating any person or entity - Impersonating any person or entity, including but not limited to, any other users or any of SuperSupporter member/s, or falsely stating or otherwise misrepresenting your identity or affiliation in any way, or forging any TCP/IP packet header or any part of the header information in any e-mail or other posting.
3.2.2 - Any fraudulent, distasteful, illegal purpose, or any use which violates the accepted norms of the Internet and/or our own community, whether or not expressly mentioned in this Agreement, as well as any activity that could damage SuperSupporter’s reputation and good will.
3.2.3 - E-mailing, uploading, or otherwise transmitting or using the Services in furtherance of the use or distribution of any unlawful, harmful, harassing, defamatory, libellous, abusive, threatening, vulgar, sexually explicit, obscene, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material of any kind, or any material that is invasive of another's privacy or exploits children, or transmitting any sexually explicit materials, including images and other content.
3.2.4 - Transmitting material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time bombs, cancel bots or other computer programming routines or engines that are intended to damage, destroy, disrupt or otherwise impair a computer's functionality or the operation of SuperSupporter (or anyone else's) Services, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or information, or transmit any materials that otherwise violate SuperSupporter rules or policies.
4 – Code of Conduct.
4.1. Respect the forum Admin / Owner / Moderators:
We provide a service in our free time to keep the forum running efficiently. We will occasionally ask for input, but in some cases we will not. Please respect our decisions. Also, we do edit for content. If you have an issue with our Moderation, please send a message to the Owner / Webmaster (Barlee). Members have the right to Report a post by using the Exclamation Triangle below each user’s/members information
4.2. Forum threads and flaming:
Flaming and condescending messages: Messages personally attacking, calling names, or otherwise harassing or being condescending to another forum member or any ethnic or religious group will be removed or moved away from the general forum for further review, based on the Moderators' decision.
4.3. Flame-bait posts:
If the thread is flame-bait, it will be locked or removed without notice. Individual flame-bait may be deleted or edited at the Moderators' discretion. Certain users who continue to post flame-bait or engage in other questionable practices (...such as trolling) may be subject to more serious sanctions.
4.4. Flaming posts:
If the thread turns into pure flaming, it will be locked or removed without notice. Sometimes a Moderator may split the thread or delete certain portions in order to keep the discussion going.
If a thread is spam - it will be removed!
4.6. Adult content/violence/illegal activity:
Messages containing sexually oriented/violent/illegal dialogue or images, content, or links to such will be deleted. Messages with links to or suggesting illegal activity will also be deleted. These actions could result in a ban.
4.7. Private Messages:
It is an extreme lack of tact to post a PM exchange between two people. Posting private messages without the permission of the author is almost universally considered extremely poor etiquette. If there is an abuse, then notifying a Mod or an Admin is proper, especially if it is harassment; but any other posting of PM's would be totally inappropriate. If you have an issue with a private message that requires action, even from a Moderator, you should address them to another Moderator or an Admin. Flagrant abuses of this policy could lead to a ban from the community.
4.8. To whom it may concern:
Please remember that these forums are inclusive of ALL people and we strive to maintain accessibility to everyone.
4.9. Avatars and Signature:
These rules also apply to avatars and signatures containing any abusive, obscene, vulgar, racial, pornographic, slanderous, hateful, threatening, and sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any applicable laws.
4.10. General Banter:
These sections of the forum are to be used for general, off topic banter.
Jokes which may appear to cross the line will be removed. The reasonable person policy remains.
4.11. Grievance Procedure
If you feel you have been wronged by the SuperSupporter Campaign in any way, please address an email stating your grievance to the SuperSupporter Admin. The Admin will discreetly investigate the matter and seek a resolution. Administrator decisions in this regard are final and binding.
4.12. Advertisements in Forum
Our Sponsors have to pay for any advertising space on this forum and as such we must limit the use of advertising on the forum. We will not enter into discussions about the removal of any post which violates this section of the CoC. (See section 11 for Grievance procedure).
4.13. Reasonable person offence:
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, racist, pornographic, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately, permanently or temporarily banned (...and your service provider being informed and your IP address blacklisted). This will be enforced by the normal SA legal precedent of the reasonable person, i.e. would the reasonable person take offence to the post?
4.14. Changes to Code of Conduct:
The Administrator / Owners reserves the right to amend, modify, change and re-write the COC, as and when required.
5 - Warnings from the Moderation Team (Moderators/Super moderators/Administrators)
A warning may or may not be issued for violating any of these guidelines. Violations will be reported via pm to the individual and stored in administrative notes. We do not allow the discussion of any moderating acts on the boards. If you have a concern or problem please email the Administrator.
The participants will be clearly warned in red text - see this as a moderator not acting as a participant, but moderating!
The member will be given time to correct their post if required. If the member does not do so a formal warning will be issued. We don't want to go this route and shall give ample warning and time to correct.
Advice: move away from this thread. Please don't query the moderator's decisions - it’s a crap job and doesn't need public scrutiny - we do scrutinise each other and will always act fairly.
When a thread has been locked or moved:
No public questioning of Moderator decisions will be allowed. We do encourage members however to query Moderator decisions via PM - first to the Moderator, then to the Admin if absolutely necessary. Public querying serves no purpose but to create a mood of distrust and to publicly question the authority of the Moderators. Please also note that the people doing the querying most often do not know what happened behind the scenes - I'm sure most Moderators will share that if questioned via PM. We do not want to publicly embarrass anyone.
