Glynnis was among my first Afrikaans music I listened to as a 10 year old Don...my cousins hubbie was afrikaans (poor guy marrying into the english part of my family!!) - he taught me afrikaans, afrikaans music, rugby, cricket, chess and sour milk every night before bed which I duly hated. Still do today. Also introduced me to putu pap which is the only pap (putu/krummel) which I eat _I don't put my mouth to any other 'pap'...(LOL dont go reading things now guys I know your minds...). In fact he taught me to read and speak Afrikaans so well that within 1 year my Nun Gr 4 (std 2) teacher asked me to stand up in front of the classmates and teach them afrikaans. I always had afrikaans friends thereafter_which again in my english speaking family and school was really exceptional. I wasn't surprised I ended up marrying a boertjie, though it wasn't always on the cards_ in fact I was more surprised I actually found someone to fall in love with and marry_I was always the odd one out when it came to men and women...

What was that song by Neil Young about "it's a wonder tall trees aren't laying down"?

One of my favorites.
