Guest Courtois Report post Posted April 26, 2016 Spanish tennis superstar Rafael Nadal said on Monday he had filed a lawsuit in Paris against former French sports minister Roselyne Bachelot after she accused him of covering up a failed drugs test. "Through this case, I intend not only to defend my integrity and my image as an athlete but also the values I have defended all my career," he said in a statement announcing "a defamation lawsuit." "I also wish to prevent any public figure from making insulting or false allegations against an athlete using the media, without any evidence or foundation and to go unpunished." Guest Courtois Report post Posted April 27, 2016 The Wimbledon championships will protect its squeaky clean image with enhanced anti-doping and anti-corruption measures for this year's 130th tournament, organisers said on Tuesday. Tennis was rocked by allegations of match-fixing on the eve of this year's Australian Open and suffered another blow to its integrity when former Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova said in February she had failed a drugs test. At a news conference announcing yet another substantial hike in prize money, the All England Club pledged to beef up its safeguards against sport's two biggest threats. Guest Courtois Report post Posted April 29, 2016 Roger joins Novak, Andy and Rafa in Madrid Seventeen-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer will continue his preparation for the French Open next month by taking part in the Madrid Masters next week, tournament officials confirmed on Thursday. "The Madrid Open can count upon the presence of Roger Federer," said a statement on the tournament's website. "Federer is one of the best tennis players in history and Madrid is a special place for him," said tournament director Manolo Santana. "We are delighted to be able to once again count on his presence at the Caja Magica." The world No 3 had initially planned to skip the fourth Masters series event of the season to reserve his energy for the three remaining Grand Slams and Rio Olympics later in the year. Guest Courtois Report post Posted May 1, 2016 Roger Federer could meet Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals of the Mutua Madrid Open as the Swiss star continues his return to the ATP World Tour. Nadal also will have a bigger task on his mind in Madrid: Fighting off World No. 1 Novak Djokovic to become the outright ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title leader with 29 championships. Main-draw pairings were announced on Saturday in Madrid, and the storylines abound: How will Federer do in his second tournament back? Can Nadal continue his title run on clay? How will Djokovic bounce back from Monte-Carlo? And how will Andy Murray, the Madrid defending champion, fare?
