Maritzburg College

Recommended Posts

I went yesterday to support them playing here in Wales vs Christ College in Brecon. College still produce some very good rugby players. These kids were big and strong and dominated the game, even though they made many mistakes. Ended up winning 41-17, but should have been much more, College chose to play an almost second string to ensure all the boys get to play.

Nice photos!

It's going to be difficult for you to keep your boys out the game if they're out there enjoying the experience at such a young age. I still believe rugby is the best sport for a youngster.

Any sport is good if it gets them out of the house and teaches teamwork.

My 8-year old is loving cycling, he is doing about 20k's per week. He gets out running from time to time and is taking swimming. To be honest I am not really keeping him from rugby, he just has not taken to it, we tried him with rugby tots, and cricket all stars and he never really showed much interest, he may change.

But for now, he wants to cycle. He has a little racing bike "Frog Bike" with 7 gears, so it is a start.

I do agree, any sport that gets them out is ideal. I took up cycling earlier this year and you meet huge amounts of people and it is good fun getting out for a long ride.

The coach was telling me the one boy there made SA Schools this year. Apparently he is an absolute monster on the field. But, in all honesty, those kids were incredible, the skills at this level.

But for me the best try of the game can from Christ College, their 15 chipped over the head of a player, regathered, took  a short run, took another chip and the bounce of the ball worked for him and he scored, try line to try line. Turned out he is also a Saffer Boy from SACS

Glad you could get and support the touring boytjies Barry. I am sure they appreciated the support. Good to see your little ones also next to the sports field.

They were really chuffed we travelled to support them, the coach was extremely grateful. Being a touring team they do not have any support.
